Christmas in Manchester

Our Christmas Park & Guide to Manchester

CitiPark are proud to present our very own Christmas Park & Guide – an interactive map of what’s on this festive season across Leeds, Manchester, Watford and London.

Christmas Shopping

If you’re on the hunt for the perfect Christmas gift, Manchester won’t let you down. Bustling with tonnes of outdoor shops and markets, the city also boasts Manchester Arndale Centre, Manchester Corn Exchange and the Great Northern Warehouse – perfect for warming up after being out and about in the cold winter weather.

Seasonal Events & Activities

Famous for one of the biggest and best Christmas markets in the country, no-where does the holidays quite like Manchester. Attracting people from all over the UK, the markets – spread out across the city centre – are a great place for shopping. But they’re also a festive leisure destination in their own right, with mouthwatering international food and drinks, yuletide treats and charming chalet-lined streets.

For all the panto fans out there, you can catch Cinderella at the Opera House and Dick Whittington at The Dancehouse. Over at Salford Quays, The Lowry has fun for all the family with The Sound of Music, Mr Popper's Penguins, Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather and the wonderfully atmospheric Snow Child. You can also catch Into The Woods at the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Finally, get your skates on for Manchester Ice Rink – just over the bridge from Spinningfields. Recreate your favourite scenes from Home Alone or A Charlie Brown Christmas, or simply have a laugh with friends, family or romantic dates, or perhaps a spot of post-work fun with your colleagues.

Festive Food & Drink

Soup Kitchen is a canteen and bar in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, offering up freshly cooked grub, award winning wine and a wide range of ales. As well as tasty food and drink, they’re also famous for hosting live music events, club nights, film screenings, comedy events and art exhibitions. And if you fancy a nice festive beer when you’re in that part of town, check out Port Street Beer House – just remember not to drink and drive!

Back in the heart of Manchester, you’ll find The Smoak Bar & Grill – the place to visit if you want to indulge in top quality oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish. It’s all about classic steakhouse and barbecue fare, with a dose of sophisticated European influence thrown in for good measure. Much of the produce is sourced from local and artisanal suppliers, and vegetarian options are also available.
