What's Coming Soon to Leeds Theatres?

We often mention all of the exciting events coming soon to the First Direct Arena in Leeds, but what about the exciting theatres that the city has to offer?

Over the next few months, Leeds has some world famous productions gracing the stages of its multiple theatres. Here's just a small selection of what's getting us excited:

Shrek – The Musical

You've seen the movie, now experience it in real life! Shrek – The Musical is touring the UK following an incredibly successful run in London's West End, as well as Broadway in NYC. The Leeds Grand Theatre will be the first venue to stage the world tour and it runs from 23rd July to 17th August so get your tickets quickly.

Join Shrek alongside his trusty steed, Donkey, as they set off on an adventure of a lifetime meeting Lord Farquaad, Princess Fiona, the incredible love-sick dragon, and all of the other well-loved characters. It's sure to be one of the most exciting nights at the theatre you'll see this year.

Wicked

Hot on the heels of the record-breaking West End residency at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, Wicked comes to Leeds as part of its UK tour.

Telling the incredible “untold story of the Witches of OZ', the show features technical wizardry, stunning costumes, and songs by Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz.

Dirty Dancing

The international smash-hit tour arrives in Leeds this November at the Grand Theatre. The legendary story of Baby and Johnny has been seen by millions globally and is set to entertain Leeds with an array of mind-blowing dancing and 80's music featuring “Hungry Eyes' and “I've Had The Time of My Life'.

See it from 11th November to the 6th of December.

The Alan Bennett Season

This Summer, the West Yorkshire Playhouse brings the Alan Bennett Season to Leeds. Originating from Armley, Alan has become one of the UK's most highly-rated playwrights with his distinctive and compelling work.

With a selection of his fantastic work on offer, it's sure to be incredibly popular. Catch Talking Heads from 23rd June – 5th July featuring much loved television monologues re-imagined for the stage.

West Side Story

Between the 16th and 19th of July, CAPA College are presenting the one and only West Side Story at the Carriageworks Theatre. Following their highly successful performances of Les Miserables, they're bring a passionate and gritty version of Bernstein's musical to the city.
