Our Picks For Bank Holiday Fun in Leeds!

It barely feels like any time has passed at all since the Easter bank holiday and now we're lucky enough to have another one. So with May Day bank holiday on the horizon, we've picked some of our favourite things to do in Leeds city centre.

From arts and culture, to live music, to stand up comedy, there is a lot happening in Leeds across the bank holiday weekend. Let's take a look at some of the fun things happening across the city.

Live at Leeds

We've posted “about Live at Leeds' recently, but it's going to be one of the most exciting events of the year to hit Leeds. With live music from some of the hottest acts in the music industry across some of your favourite Leeds venues including The Cockpit, O2 Academy, and Hifi; it's sure to be a festival to remember!

La Boheme

On May 2nd-3rd, Puccini's famous opera La Boheme returns to Leeds Grand Theatre this bank holiday weekend. La Boheme looks at student life in the early 1960s with darker undertones of death and loss. Expect an emotional performance and an unforgettable experience.

1940's Living History Weekend at the Royal Armouries

This bank holiday weekend, the Royal Armouries celebrates a 1940's Living History Weekend featuring fun for all of the family. Experience uniformed groups from the 101st Airborne Division and 669th Russian Battalion bringing history to life outside on the Royal Armouries Square, featuring weapons, equipment and military vehicles. Inside the museum there will be special talks and gallery tours, make do and mend craft activities, and 1940's Pathe News footage. Just to top it off, there will be live music to see in the weekend with a bang!

Voices of Asia

If you fancy dropping into Leeds City Museum this weekend, be sure to check out the Voices of Asia exhibition. Featuring all aspects of Asian culture, you'll have the opportunity to experience fashion, dance, theatre, film, as well as faith. Many items in the exhibition have been gathered since the late 18th century so you're sure to see some truly special sights!

Leeds Art Gallery

Why not experience some fine art this bank holiday. With well known pieces from Sir Henry Moore, Rodin and Dame Barbara Hepworth, it's a fantastic way to spend the day. The collection features past greats, as well as work by less-known and newly emerging artists.

Rich Hall

Comedian Rich Hall is known for his grouchy, observational humour. If you've seen him on TV shows such as “Mock the Week', “Have I Got News For You' and “Live at the Apollo', you won't want to miss out. He's performing at the Leeds City Varieties Music Hall from 1st May-2nd May.
