The Manchester Literature Festival Comes to Town

Officially running from the 7th until the 20th of October and with fringe events before and after, the Manchester Literature Festival sees the stars of the literary world descend en masse on the city.

Starting in 2006 following on from the legacy of its highly successful predecessor, the Manchester Poetry Festival MLF gives writers and audiences a chance to explore great live literature events. Not forgetting its history, there are a huge number of poetry events as well as appearances from some of Britain’s best known and most loved writers including fantasy writer Neil Gaiman, who has been credited with writing one of the best episodes of BBC show Doctor Who in the last few years. There are also appearances from authors such as Eoin Colfer, Roddy Doyle, Malorie Blackman and Helen Fielding.

The whole city will come alive with literature. There will even be poets and writers doing readings in public. Keep your eyes peeled for poet Dominic Berry, recently returned from his successful show at the Edinburgh Fringe, appearing on trams around the city on Tuesday 24th September reading his excellent dragon poetry.

Parking around the city couldn’t be easier with CitiPark, no matter where the event. For city centre parking, choose our Dale Street or Port Street car parks.
