The MOBO Awards 2015 at first direct arena

Leeds, Are You Ready for an Unforgettable Night?

This year The MOBO Awards are celebrating their 20th anniversary – and what a celebration it will be!

Founded in 1996 by Kanya King MBE, the MOBOs (Music of Black Origin) have grown to become one of the most anticipated and exciting events on the music calendar, showcasing the very best in British and international urban talent, reaching a massive 400 million viewers across 200 countries!

The MOBOs are renowned for taking over iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall (6 times!), Wembley Arena and the O2. In 2009, the awards travelled way up north to celebrate in Glasgow – this year, the ceremony will be taking place in Leeds at the first direct arena on Wednesday 4th November.

Over the years, the MOBOs have helped propel the careers of numerous household names, including Craig David, Ms Dynamite, Estelle, Kano, Amy Winehouse, N-Dubz & Chipmunk – to name a few!

Hip Hop superstars Dr. Dre, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have all been nominated for Best International Album respectfully, alongside homegrown Grime icons Wiley, Skepta and new kid on the block Yungen, who have been nominated for Best Album, Best Male Act and Best Newcomer. But it’s not all about the boys – in true MOBO fashion there’s a host of incredible female nominations, including Little Simz, Lady Leshurr and Ella Eyre, who are all up for Best Hip Hop and Female Act.

The platinum-album-selling popstar Rita Ora will be performing on the evening, alongside the ever interesting electronic R&B artist FKA Twigs. Hip Hop duo Krept & Konan are also billed, as well as Naughty Boy and Ella Eyre, who won Best Newcomer at the 2014 MOBOs.

Tickets for the awards are now sold out. If you were lucky enough to grab one, don’t let parking be a problem. Pre-book your space at the official first direct arena car park – the most affordable parking for The MOBO Awards.
