We've been treated to a wonderful sight each night from our Merrion Centre car park and head office - Leeds First Direct Arena all lit up!
About a month ago Leeds First Direct Arena started testing thousands of their gorgeous new lights on the outside of the building. They light up in an array of different colours and they were even featured on Comic Relief lit up in bright red.
The Arena was due to open in September this year, but Bruce Springsteen will play an early show in July. Springsteen apparently asked to play there early, no doubt after the venue was the only UK arena to feature in Billboard Magazine's Top Venues to Watch at the start of 2013. There was a mad scramble for tickets when they went on sale in February, selling out in minutes.
Other confirmed acts at the Arena include JLS, Boyzone, comedienne Miranda Hart and Elton John. Cirque du Soleil have also confirmed dates at the Arena which is built like a proscenium theatre and will have moveable seating to allow for more intimate performances. Cirque du Soleil performer Colette Morrow has already made an appearance in Leeds at the unveiling of the Leeds Trinity shopping centre a fortnight ago.
