What To Do In Leeds During The Summer Holidays - Part I
Summer has arrived. The schools are out and it's holidays for all! The great thing is that Leeds has a lot of fun activities to keep everyone occupied over the next six weeks.
Over the next few weeks, the CitiPark team will be sharing some of their picks of what to do in Leeds during the summer holidays. From events happening in the city centre, to the vast array of art galleries and museums, there are a whole host of fun things to do in Leeds this summer.
Here's part one of our summer holiday picks:
Thackray Medical Museum
One of the most hands-on museums in Leeds, the Thackray Medical Museum is a great activities for all ages. Learn about the history of medicine including how various discoveries have helped to cure many illnesses throughout the ages. Experiences such as walking down a disease-ridden Victorian street, trying on a pregnancy suit to see just what it feels like carrying that extra weight around, as well as plethora of other exciting interactive exhibits.
Not one to be missed!
Royal Armouries
This summer, the Royal Armouries is without a doubt one of the best museums and exhibits in Leeds. As well as the amazing weapons from decades gone by, the Royal Armouries always has a host of fun activities happening throughout school holidays. Best of all, it's free!
Right up until the 31st of August, the Royal Armouries has a range of daily activities to entertain. With live shows including Wild West gunfights, rapier duels, poll-axe combat and dramatic performances, there's something for all tastes. You can also even have a go at learning how to sword fight!
There will also be some special events happening at the Royal Armouries over the summer holidays. On the 12th, 13th and 14th of August, POW! comes to Leeds. Some of the most iconic comic book heroes including Iron Man, Judge Dredd and Batman will all be at the Royal Armouries to meet their adoring fans. Visitors can try out comic book art and hear special talks. As well as this, there'll be some weaponry on display from the popular Call of Duty computer games.
Go Karting
Go Karting is a great event to get everybody fired up! Why not head down to Pole Position Indoor Karting at Clarence Dock for some racing around their spectacular indoor track. This will definitely be one to remember, especially with the track's super speed straights, twisting turns, and an exciting tunnel to get those pulses racing. Let the racers compete against each other and see who can get the fastest lap on the day!
