Merrion Centre multi-storey car park undergoes transformation

This February, CitiPark are delighted to announce the major transformation of the Merrion Centre multi-storey car park.

Following last summer’s £250,000 investment into their hi-tech parking management system, the next phase of the redevelopment has already started with energy efficiency and customer experience at the heart of it.

A completely new experience for our customers

Operating since the early 1960’s, the Merrion Centre car park is an integral part of the new Arena Quarter development with main improvement works seeing the introduction of LED lighting to create a bright and airy feel, brand new larger lifts, electrical vehicle charging points, cycle storage and defibrillators. In addition to this, security will be vastly improved with new CCTV systems, movement sensors and customer only pedestrian access gates, complementing the existing 24/7 staff and team of security guards.

Ben Ziff, Managing Director of CitiPark (CitiPark) said “We are really excited that this refurbishment will help to transform the car park into the most modern and technologically advanced car park in Leeds. In January 2014, over 40,000 customers parked in the car park and we relish the opportunity to improve their overall experience, particularly as there is an ever growing amount of brilliant events at the First Direct Arena next door”.

Ziff also added “As the Merrion Centre car park is one of the official car parks for the First Direct Arena, we are working in partnership with SMG and Leeds City Council to ensure that we deliver a first class visitor experience to arena users”.

We’ll still be open 24/7

The car park remains open 24/7 throughout the transformation and will be permanently manned, with work due to be completed in December 2014, just in time for local retailers and shoppers to enjoy the festive trade. Keep up-to-date with the build on our blog!
